Training what you want, where and when
you want it

Liz with Tai and Plato
Dogs have always been a big part of my life. As a child, although I was not allowed to own my own dog, I trained and cared for many of my neighbor's and relative's dogs. I was a member of a 4-H dog club for over 4 years and earned several awards in non-titling events.
While studying for my undergraduate degree I worked as a Veterinary Technician at a local Animal Hospital where I got experience caring for and handling dogs, cats, birds, rabbits and many exotic small animals. During this time I became intrigued by dogs and their behavior. It became my mission to gain insights into why dogs act the way they do in different environments.
I obtained my BA in Biology/Psychology in 1991 and went on to study animal behavior at Boston University. I then worked 10 years in the research field while I raised my young family. During that time I put a CD on my American Eskimo, Coconut.
Deciding that what I really want to do is to help foster the relationship between dogs and their families in a positive, fun and fulfilling way, I began to apprentice and work for What A Good Dog and Mary Remer. I trained with What A Good Dog for 5 years.
Wanting to increase my knowledge base in the field of pet dog training, I studied for, and earned, my Certification for Pet Dog Trainers credentials and am a Certified Pet Dog Trainer (CPDT). I am a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT), the American Kennel Club (AKC), the Australian Shepherd Club of America (ASCA), and the World Canine Freestyle Organization (WCFO).
Constantly looking to improve my skills as a dog trainer and increase my understanding of why dogs do the things they do, I have attended seminars presented by nationally recognized dog trainers such as Dr. Ian Dunbar, Terry Ryan, Leslie Nelson, Suzanne Clothier, Kathy Sdao, Sue Sternberg, Jean Donaldson, Diane Kowalski, Bev Blanchard and Pia Silvani.
Currently there are 2 dogs with whom my family and I share our lives, a Bernese Mountain Dog mix, named Plato, and an Australian Shepherd, named Tai. Plato, has earned his CGC, Novice title in AKC Rally and is a Certified Therapy Dog through TDI. Tai has earned his Novice title in AKC Rally, Novice Jumpers title through ASCA and is currently competing in Canine Musical Freestyle.
Although competing with my dogs is fun, I enjoy them most by just being with them. I hope I can help you have a dog that you can enjoy being with as much as my family and I enjoy our dogs.
